Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This feminine, well made Shiraz has cool crispness, good acidity, and a chalky-smooth feel going for it. Taut cherry fruit is at its core, with an unusual mix of anise, talc and acorn aromas wafting from the nose. Excellent, though with only 250 cases produced, may be a challenge to find.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a masculine, big-boned Shiraz, one with a black cherry-and-plum core. You want sweet and toasty? Look elsewhere. This wine’s dry, chewy tannins and earth-and-oak finish recommend it well for a grilled steak, and/or a couple years in the cellar.

Fruit on the nose has a pretty black-peppery finish, with just a hint of herbal brightness. Mocha, chocolate and eucalyptus are accents on the palate, which fades into sweet red berries, white pepper and oak on the finish.

Mocha, anise and eucalyptus aromas are compelling, as are juicy, mixed berry and spice flavors. This is a very enjoyable, by-the-book kind of Shiraz, built to please far and wide. Imported by E & J Gallo.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This medium- to full-bodied Shiraz starts off with aromas that suggest cured meats and slightly stewed plums, while the flavors are even meatier, picking up some citrusy notes. Crisp acids accentuate some drying tannins on the finish, giving this wine a somewhat stern demeanor. Imported by McWilliam's of Coonawarra.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Out of the gate, it smells like hard-cheese rind, but opens to reveal cream and vanilla notes. On the palate, there’s ripe red fruit and lively acidity. Narrow in the mouth with interesting, rustic, Old World nuances of iron ore. Imported by E & J Gallo.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Given its 14.6% alcohol level, this wine is actually lighter in weight than you might expect; crisp acids and firm tannins frame fresh, berry-like flavors tinged with leather, vanilla, chocolate and mint. Imported by McWilliam's of Australia.
