Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Over a quarter of a century ago, this was one of the first South African Bordeaux blends. It is still one of the best, a ripely tannic, firm wine that owes a lot to the structure given by ripe grapes from mature vines. Great acidity, great black currant fruits, and great style.

This Cab-dominant Bordeaux blend opens slowly, eventually showing blueberry, pastry, and cedar aromas. Tobacco and earth take the stage in the mouth, along with more blueberry and pie crust. The smooth, evolved tannins offer a seamless mouthfeel; will continue to evolve over the next five years. Imported by Maisons Marques & Domaines USA.

Chocolaty and ripe on the nose, with cassis, plum, cola and eucalyptus aromas. As complex in the mouth, with blueberry and oak in addition to plum and cola. The wine has a racy mouthfeel yet is full bodied, with nice tannins and a solid finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Heavy notes of vanilla and caramel, char and menthol herald the oak in this wine. But on the palate the oak is well integrated with white stone fruit and crème brûlée flavors. Seemingly soft at first, this wine has a strong, fruity core that carries it right through the buttery finish. Imported by Maisons Marques & Domaines USA.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A restrained, elegant nose of black fruit, plum, cherry and spice starts this serious blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from Chris Williams and Meerlust. Full-bodied, complex flavors of cedar, tobacco, mint and plum are juicy and savory. Tannins are taut but forgiving. The wine still needs to time to evolve, but is a study in brooding character.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Savory and spicy aromas and an enticing mélange of spiced wood, cigar and berry give this wine an elegant and sumptuous edge. Balanced, smooth and unobtrusive in the way of a good Merlot, the wine still has substance and a good finish.

Rich red plum and currant notes contrast with leafy herbs and leather on the palate. All of this carries to the well-balanced finish. This wine is hearty enough for a solid red meat pairing. Drink 2003–2008.
