Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a clean, fruity, pleasant white wine that could just as easily be something along the lines of an Italian Orvieto rather than a Washington Sauv Blanc. Melon and cucumber, fresh acidity, and alcohol just a little over 13%.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Light, clean, gently spicy pear and apple fruit flavors are set in a crisp white wine with fine acidity. The hints of white pepper give it detail and interest; the fresh acidity encourages that second and third glass. Drink this chilled.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A price drop brings this delightful Chardonnay into value territory. With its lively mix of citrus and stone fruits, the suggestions of rock and white pepper, and the overall crisp attack, this is a summertime picnic wine. Drink it chilled, and it will go well with anything from egg salad to sliced turkey or ham.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Thick tannins take the fruit out fairly quickly, though the alcohol, just under 15%, suggests plenty of ripeness in the grapes. Dark flavors prevail––black cherry, cola, toast and bitter chocolate.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This tastes like pure varietal Cabernet; it’s stiff and tightly wound, and the Horse Heaven Hills fruit has big, drying tannins. Give it some breathing time and it begins to broaden out, showing thin streaks of smoke and iron, along with brambly berry and cassis. This has the structure to age, and should develop further in the bottle over the near term.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very pleasant, relatively light, showing a pretty mix of citrus and tropical fruit, fresh cream, light toast and a hint of cinnamon. The alcohol rests at 14.1% but feels a bit lighter, and the wine has a pleasing ripeness without becoming fat or heavy.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is soundly made, with good balance, some herbal/olive character, and a medium-bodied midpalate. Some of the licorice and coffee comes through, but with more structure than the 2005 Cabernet from Mercer Estates.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Succulent and deliciously juicy, this is a near-perfect expression of mainstream Washington Riesling. It is a sappy, tangy, lip-smacking wine, expressing ripe apples, Asian pear and lovely hints of grapefruit, pineapple and citrus.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is quite crisp and clean, with fairly typical flavors for Washington Pinot Gris. Which is to say, not nearly as fleshy as the wines from Oregon, with less of the juicy pear character. There’s plenty of acid, more like green apple than ripe pear. It’s a soundly made wine, clean and fresh, but less varietally distinctive than one would hope for.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a good, every day effort, much like the baseline Ste. Michelle Sauvignon Blancs. Lightly grassy, lemony and tart, it is an all-purpose quaffer.
