This is a delicious and unique Chardonnay in that it reminds of a fresh peach ice cream I used to eat while growing up. I first tried it at our Around the World in 80 Sips event in Denver last year and was excited to have it poured in San Francisco this year!

Shows some of the richness and complexity of Migration’s single-vineyard Chardonnays, but at much less money. The wine is dry, crisp and flavorful in pineapples, green apples, limes and honeysuckle, with oaky notes of buttered toast. Drink now.

The best Migration I’ve had. It’s rich in Pinot fruit, silky and complex. With cherry, cola and licorice flavors and a generous dollop of oak it deals an elegant balance, highlighted by refreshingly crisp acidity.

Pretty dark and rich, a big, full-bodied wine with complex flavors of cherry, tobacco, earth, coffee, mint and cola, and some sweet chocolate in the finish. This is a muscular, fruit-driven wine, but could use more subtlety and elegance.

The 2006 was really good, but the 2007 is a disappointment. Where that wine was complex, this is simple, tasting of watermelon, cotton candy and LifeSaver cherry flavors that finish watery and sugary.

This second label from Goldeneye is a soft, silky and complex Pinot Noir, dry and balanced, with blackberry, cherry, cola, nutmeg and cedar flavors. Very deft, and fine to drink now.

A lovely, polished wine, the second label of Goldeneye. It doesn’t have the impact of the main wines, but it does share in their structural brilliance. Dry and silky, it has alluring flavors of cherries, cola, mocha and spices.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From the Duckhorn and Goldeneye family, this is a soft, juicy Pinot. It’s very flavorful, suggesting a freshly baked red cherry tart, with accents of mocha, vanilla and cinnamon, but it’s basically dry.

I love everything about this blush. It’s the pretty color of a peach whose gold is turning rosy pink, and the rich flavors are of raspberries, strawberries, cherries and vanilla, all balanced with a crisp streak of acidity. Fun and serious at the same time, it will go with everything from salmon to vanilla ice cream.

This is the second wine of Duckhorn-owned Goldeneye, comprised of lots that don’t make the main blend. It shows the power and acidity of the main wine, with rich cherry, cassis, cola and vanilla flavors, but not quite the same finesse. Drink this polished, elegant Pinot now.
