For Chilean Zinfandel, which isn’t something you see every day, it has its positives. The nose is a bit sheer, with grape skins, citrus peel and coffee making their mark. Scratchy raspberry flavors seem sugary, while the finish is full of mocha and vanilla. Overt, creamy, sweet and pretty good as a whole.

Nicely colored, with blueberry and raspberry fruit. Seems solid, and it is, but there’s a gigantic wave of acidity that mills around the middle, and the more you sip it the more sour it gets. Really needs food to show its best.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This one has bland aromatics, with only a touch of oak to grasp at. The palate is almost spritzy, which it shouldn’t be, and the flavor resembles Mott’s applesauce. A bit weak and only qualifies for an acceptable rating on its best day.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Nectarine aromas along with a touch of mint kick it off. The second act is an apple and pear palate with a bit of licorice and an undercurrent of mineral. The palate remains solid and fruity, and the wine seems fresh and healthy despite being a few years old.

Chocolate-covered cherries and freshly fallen pine needles are very aromatic in this blend. The flavors of clove, leather and earth finish soft and simple for a satisfying glass of wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Some rusticity in the form of leather, spice and bacon separate the aromas of this wine from the ordinary. The mouth comes across a bit juicy due to high acidity, but that also keeps things fresh across the tongue. Flavors of black fruit and plums lead into a finish that’s dark with coffee.
