Overly sweet and overly brandied. The sugar and sharp heat combination created the anathema of "Liquid Love". This may be why they were so insistent on pushing the dark chocolate Hershey's (!!) kisses with it. Yes, dark chocolate is good with wine. Yes, I understand the need to save costs by not using anything fancy. However, half-melted and "shocked" chocolate kisses being excessively pushed in order to seemingly cover up the inadequacies of the port is not the solution to improving the quality of your product.

Another very mediocre wine. Nothing special and very on par both profile-wise and taste-wise with the 2005 Syrah. Some good dark plum and chocolate flavors. Maybe the best of the bunch, but thats not saying much.

A solid "Meh." Not really exceptional in any way, but maybe the best of the bunch. Hard to get excited after such a bad track record had been set. Some good dark fruit up front, mainly blackberries and a bit of tobacco with pepper. Unexceptional.

Okay fruit up front. A bit like smashed berry compote. Middle was non-existent. End was shockingly terrible. WAY over-heated with a horrible tannin and alcohol spike. When I asked what the % was, the woman proudly pronounced it to be 15% (with a big smile), and then told me how awesome it was that some Zinfandel's can go "up to 17%!". My teeth hurt from gritting them so hard.

How they can make Brunello di Montalcino out of this same grape and be such disparate characters, I have no idea. The fact that they insisted on (and took special pride in) decanting this at the tasting room was laughable. Was like a thin, cheap, Pinot Noir, except with minimal fruit and a way-too-hot finish.

A lone floating "C-" in a sea of "F's". Would be an okay wine if served excessively cold on a hot day, with non-judgmental , non-wine educated guests. A blandly enjoyable sparkler.

This was a miserable wine. A bit of citrus fruit up front, followed by nothingness. Would have had more fun drinking water. Goes along with Mr. Katz's assertion that "Real wine drinker's drink red. I only make white because I have to [the public demands it]." Whatever "public" demanded this clearly hasn't had any decent white wine recently.

See tasting notes on the '06 Katz Pinot Grigio. A similar disaster. A bit of apple blossom up front, supported by absolutely nothing. I'm flabbergasted as to how this wine can be called a Reserve.

Cringe-worthy and insipid. Up front was fine, but by the finish I was thinking, "What the hell is wrong with these people?" Extremely over-heated, much like the Merlot. On the finish, the tannic 'spike' was just so insanely wrong that it was like when you accidentally get shampoo in your mouth while in the shower. My girlfriend actually asked if I was okay.
