Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This Barolo with fruit sourced from the Rocche cru in Castiglione Falletto offers slightly aged aromas of old spice, candied fruit, smoked ham and cured beef. The wine is elegant and very drying on the finish. Hold until 2015.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The color is light, but the Monchiero has pungent earthy aromas over a backdrop of fruit. On the palate, it is soft and quite chunky, and dominated by its earthiness. The wine has evolved completely, and should be drunk reasonably quickly.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is an extraordinary example of the potential of the 2005 vintage. The wine boasts a meaty, bold style with thick aromas of cured meat, bresaola, white mushroom, moist earth, natural rubber and spice. Very intense flavors of chocolate and ground espresso explode in the mouth. Drink after 2018.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The fabric of Barolo Rocche is tightly woven with aromas of black currant, anise, cola, ginger and licorice. This is an extremely penetrating and vertical wine that is buoyant and fragrant in the best Barolo tradition. It has natural tannic firmness that is surrounded by delightful fruit flavors. Hold until 2012–2015.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Barolo Roere presents charred notes of charcoal or campfire that will relax with time but that mask some of the wine’s natural fruit at this young age. The wine shows good structure and freshness and would make a perfect pairing partner to pork crown roast stuffed with chestnuts and sage.
