Nice and fresh, with defined, attractive apple and pear aromas. Dry and fruity in the mouth, with a tad of sweetness to the firm papaya, lime and apple flavors. Ripe and round enough, with balance. The total packagein cava. Imported by Classical Wines.

Open and floral, with acacia and orange blossom on the nose. The palate is full-bore citrus, dealing orange and pink grapefruit. Lots of acidity and still full-bodied, with a solid finish that’s zesty and lasting. Nice brut cava; offers more than average. Imported by Classical Wines.

Soft in the mouth and smoky on the close, expect a buttercream-vanilla-tobacco bouquet and lemon, cream and pear flavors in the mouth. Not as much bead as we’d like, but has more complexity than you’d expect.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very clean and stylish, with nectarine, apple and pear aromas and fairly similar flavors. This is totally pleasant to sip, with a slight touch of yeasty, bready complexity. Delicious yet simple; nothing wrong with it.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A clean, almost oceanic bouquet leads to a pure palate of green apple, pear, kiwi and white grapes. It has a rock-solid mouthfeel and dances back and forth between its white-fruit and green-fruit sides. Cleanses the palate nicely.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bulky, fruity style of cava that begins with aromas of floor polish, fruit essence and roasted corn. Shows much more citrus in the mouth, where the flavors run toward orange juice, lime and tarragon. Crisp and apple-based late, but never exciting enough to stir fandom.

Colorful stuff, like the flesh of a wild King salmon. The nose offers dried cherry, nectarine and some carbon dioxide. Fresh and tangy in the mouth, with pink grapefruit as the primary flavor despite its Pinot Noir DNA. Good enough to sip on a summer day, but not what you’d call elevated. Imported by Classical Wines.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is top-notch value cava, perfectly round, solid and fruity. Pear, apple and pastry aromas carry the nose while orange, lemon, green herb and white pepper flavors are defined and attractive. Rarely does a sparkler at this price register so high on the quality meter, but the structure and totality of this Macabeo-Parellada-Xarello blend is nothing if not commendable. Mont Marçal ranks as a perennial value leader.

Although lacking a bit of complexity, this is an affable pour with its toast, cream, white peach and butter aromas. Toast and lemon flavors lead to a buttercream finish. —K.F.

This cava (Spanish sparkling wine) is a bit more expensive than its competition from northeast Spain, but it's worth the few extra dollars. It is quite elegant, with lots of flavor. A good choice for parties.
