Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sports an explosively fruity nose of berry and plum, with cloves and toasty oak in support. Medium-weight, with very nice fruit and good structure, it displays some engaging chocolate and spice notes. The finish is brisk and tangy, with bitter cocoa notes and firm, drying tannins. Hold until 2005.

A fabulously rich, generous wine that oozes over the palate like nectar, carrying along black currant, cassis and herb flavors and substantial flavoring from oak. Although it feels soft on the palate, a hit of tannin kicks in on the finish. —S.H.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Tastes young and jammy-fruity now, with fresh acids and rich, ripe tannins. Oak plays a prominent part, lending a smoky caramelization to the black currant and cherry flavors. Could develop, but the sugary sweetness is problematic.

This is a good, fairly complex Cab that’s likeable and balanced. It show fine blackberry and cherry flavors, with a good tannin-acid balance and some nice oak. Drink now.

Notes of smoke, toast, lime and herbs play against guava, pear and brown sugar scents in the bouquet. A chalk note accents zesty orange, grapefruit and guava flavors and a soft mouthfeel. Vanilla, clove and oak highlights mark the wine’s creamy, medium-length finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Shows some blackberry and cherry fruit aromas and flavors along with dried sage and dill, and the fruity flavors are on the lean side. That lets the dusty tannins and acids dominate the palate.

A sweet and spicy kind of Pinot. Opens with an attractive nose of deep fruit, candy and spice. Sweet fruit flavors and good depth to the mouthfeel. Closes with a peppery quality and substantial tannins. Should improve with age.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dark, almost black. An interesting note of pine tar floats over the classic blackberry, cherry and plum aromas, and also lots of sweet, charry oak. Rather hard with tannins now, but what a long, fruity finish. Best after 2008.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Opens with complex aromas of cherry pie, sweet oak, peppery wintergreen and an exotic note of candied ginger and Asian spice. On the palate, it then turns lush and layered, with swirls of fruit and spice leading to a long finish. This wine is best from now through 2012.

A very fine wine, rich, full-bodied and sensationally ripe. Floods the mouth with cassis and oak flavors, and the tannins are sweet and intricate. Feels great just to slosh it around the palate.
