Aromas of rubber, leafy red fruit and herbal raspberry are solid. It’s crisp in the mouth, with raspy tannins supporting tight cherry and raspberry flavors. Finishes like it flows, with firm acidity and zest more than richness, leaving a hint of creamy vanilla and heat as it fades away.

A touch creamy and lactic at first, but it picks up leathery, more rustic notes with airing. Flavors of plum, blackberry and broad-grained oak lead into a spicy finish with both cinnamon and tree-bark notes. Maybe it’s a bit basic, but it’s juicy, well made and tasty.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Hard and rubbery at first; the nose requires a lot of patience. Those who have it will be rewarded with candied red fruit and a buttery, oaky finish. Somewhat of a unique, odd style for Priorat, with a broader, less mineral character. Imported by Freixenet USA.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Overtly, overwhelmingly oaky, a shot at the international style, this red from the hot region of Priorat just doesn’t go anywhere beyond the wood. From stem to stern, the coconut-toasty oak renders all other elements subservient to an extent that grape and location are rendered irrelevant. —M.M.

Light in color, with some cloudiness. On the nose it’s fairly lean and herbal, more similar to French Cabernet Franc or Pinot Noir than your typical muscular Priorat. Flavorwise, expect raisin and raspberry notes before a short, spicy finish.
