Good everyday bubbly, a little aggressive but serviceable. Mainly Chardonnay, with some Pinot Noir, it has delicate flavors and is very dry and tart.

Quite rich for Mumm’s annual lineup, with citrus and melon flavors, maybe because a third of the blend is Pinot Gris. It’s fully dry, with a crisp mouthfeel and a yeasty finish. Light and elegant through the finish.

Tastes kind of lean and earthy, with dried straw and grapefruit flavors rounded off by a bit of honeyed sweetness from lees and dosage. Strives for elegance, but could use more finesse.

Nicely balanced with a blend of toasty-yeasty and fresh elements on the nose, this sparkler has good fruit—not too sweet—and a smooth and creamy feel. Straightforward, it offers full but dry apple-pineapple flavors and some green-apple and lime notes on the finish.

This is a very dry wine made in a tarter, more austere style. The flavors suggest limes, hay, and fruit skins from peaches and grapes. It’s a bit rough in texture, but overall offers nice, easy drinking.

The concentrated, beguiling nose suggests cask-conditioned ale and freshly baked bread. The wine fills every corner of the palate with rich, seductively layered flavors. The finish says California, not Champagne, with its tart fruit and spice.

Full-bodied and dry, with pleasant flavors of strawberry, raspberry, smoke and vanilla and a nice doughiness. Light and elegant on the palate, leaving behind a bubbly scour that carries strawberries long into the finish.

A crowd pleasing sparkler for its intricate melange of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir flavors, rich moussy texture, crisp acids and just-right dosage. The cherry and lime flavors are edged with smoky vanilla honey and taste just great. Almost addictively good.

It’s hard to keep the Chardonnay from getting ripe in California, and so this bubbly has strong, fruity notes from the citrus and peach-accented aromas through the peachy finish. Of course there’s toast, and the rough scour of acidity. It’s quite clean and refreshing, but definitely a warm-climate sparkling wine.
