This meritage wine, composed of 57% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 11% cabernet franc with an addition of 8% zinfandel presents a rich and ripe sweet nose, loaded with black spices, earth, black fruits, and a touch of smoke; ripe and rich in the mouth, very sweet, almost too much so; lots of tannins, fairly well integrated but surprisingly coarse and simple; I seem to remember earlier vintages of this wine as more interesting and layered; good finish, sweet, but lacking interest.
