Earthen and sweet nose loaded with old vine and sweet fruit aromas, the nose seems a bit tired now, and the fruit slightly stewed, but it is still very perfumed and aromatic with strong floral scents; sweet and rich in the mouth with surprisingly powerful flavors; a big attack here with lots of cherry fruit, spices, and good acidity; soft and sweet at the same time with a subtle earthen character; the wine has a spicy, peppery bite at the finish, but pleasant; quite balanced and fresh at the finish. A sweet, soft nose with restrained, almost faint aromas, lightly perfumed, subtle with a nice herbal underpinning; there is still plenty of ripe fruit in this wine at the start, with black cherry and strawberry flavors; but it is beginning to dry out now, and there is dry edge to the fruit; the finish is more citric and with lemony notes; not as ripe as the younger vintages tasted. Very perfumed and sweet as these wines tend to be, exotic, wafting aromas of sweet flowers, orange groves, hyacinths, cherries and raspberries; loads of sweet fruit in the mouth, mostly black cherry and raspberry flavors in the front, but mixed with exotic notes of citrus and toffee; very elegant, very balanced; the wine is quite ripe in the mouth, but the finish shows some refined dry edges which could be the beginning of a drying out of this wine or the residual of dryer tannins that were there earlier; very good in any event. What a nose; seductive and powerful opening with deep and complex aromas, very perfumed and exotic, caramel and toffee, with a touch of lilacs, but also some wonder gamey aromas that suggest wild boar; sweet and elegant in the mouth with a smooth and silky texture; ripe fruit predominates with mixed flavors of cherries and strawberries; long polished finish; this is one of those wines that you wait for. Not the nose I was expecting, slightly cooked and overripe, roasted, a bit coarse and earthen, and I think somewhat maderized; bitter in the mouth on the opening shot; there is sweet fruit here, and a nice silky texture, but I believe that this wine is beginning to tip over now; hot and dry at the edges with a flat and somewhat faded finish. A questionable vintage, but here is a good effort; opens with a very aromatic and perfumed nose, as this wine tends to have, sweet with a hint of mint, truffle, caramel, pepper, spicy and wooden with just a hint of the rot that afflicted many in this year; nice ripe fruit flavors in the mouth; lots of black cherries, plums; elegant and balanced with a nicely integrated acidic presence that adds freshness and life to a rich, ripe wine; not as complex or as deep as the wines from the better vintages, but this is a good effort for sure.(16.5/20)

Spicy nose with strong roasted aromas of coffee beans, cloves, gravel, and damp wood; sweet and ripe fruit in the mouth, mostly black cherries and ripe plums; lots of big, woody tannins in the mid-mouth, but this does not affect the wine’s wonderful silky texture; elegant and balanced, even though there is a hard edge to the tannins that make the wine tougher than it ought to be. Sweet nose with peppery, spicy aromas, black cherry, lightly perfumed, not profound but pleasant; same in the mouth; sweet and ripe, and certainly good for the vintage, but lacking in the subtlety and depth that this wine shows in its best vintages; still elegant though with peppery, earthen finish. Pronounced nose of mint and chocolate, ripe, rich, quite fat and concentrated, deep rich fruit aromas; sweet and intense, powerful flavors with great depth and definition; at this time there are layers of dry acidity that complicate the palate, but add texture; powerful dry acidity that augurs well for the future; lots of spice; the finish is smooth and silky with a great touch of elegance and class; this is great young Burgundy. Powerful and rich nose with strong presence of licorice, caramel, ripe black fruits, smoke, and earth tones, perfumed and elegant and very compelling; big flavors in this wine; layers of black cherry fruit mixed with complex herbs and earth and perfumed fruit flavors; still very young, and there is a closed-down feeling about this wine, even while it exudes richness and ripeness; long finish, still dominated with a tight tannic structure, but classy and elegant at this early stage.
