Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Clean mineral, saline, blanched almond and white-fruit aromas announce that this wine is still fresh and not losing a step just yet. Flavors of white peach, apricot, pineapple and green apple are pleasant, while the mildly pithy finish is short but cleansing. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
As always, Naia has bottled a composed, floral, fragrant Verdejo. The nose features citrus blossom and mineral notes, while the palate is citrusy to the max, with vibrant white grapefruit, orange and lime flavors. Fresh on the back end, with even more citrus and pith to ponder. This is nice Verdejo for immediate drinking.

Definitely a particular wine, meaning it’s fully oaked and probably not for everyone. But if you don’t mind full-out barrel notes on your citrusy Verdejo, then you should like it. There’s honey, toast, popcorn, pepper and vanilla aromas and flavors, all courtesy of barrel fermentation. It’s also smooth and clean, with good core acidity and balance. Nice wine; not Burgundy; not for all palates.

Amazingly expressive stuff from Spain. A mix of Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc and Viura that delivers a cornucopia of citrus. Grapefruit, passion fruit and lime aromas and flavors abound, and the finish is so fresh and scouring that it can’t help but quench your thirst. A superb summer sipper from the constantly improving Rueda region. Imported by Jorge Ordoñez/Fine Estates from Spain.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Fleshy and rich, with a clear reflection of barrel fermentation on the nose, palate and finish. This is plump Verdejo with match stick and toasty vanilla on the bouquet. It’s full, round and toasted in the mouth, with spiced apple and vanilla flavors. Oaky and mature; drink this Spanish ode to Burgundy now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is the first Las Brisas rosado that’s come to us, and it’s good in a tangy, tropical sort of way. The nose delivers mango along with light citrus and berry, while the palate is tangy, jumpy, citric and tastes mostly of orange and tangerine. Good but fairly monotone in aromas and flavors; made from 80% Tempranillo and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
In cooler vintages like 2007, this white blend from Bodegas Naia excels. It gets going with pear, apple and light, leesy aromas in front of a citrusy palate that is a knock-off for varietal Sauvignon Blanc. Flavors of grapefruit, lime and gooseberry should be familiar, and the crisp fresh-lettuce finish is a winner. Good stuff for the money.

Sauvignon Blanc fans take note: this no-oak Verdejo tastes a lot like S.B., with ultrafresh tropical and citrus fruit characteristics that include aromas and flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit and nectarine. Extremely lively and appealing, with a good mix of acidity and body. A very good food wine. Imported by Jorge Ordoñez/Fine Estates from Spain.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
An aggressive example of Verdejo, one that wants to be grapefruit juice and comes very close to tasting like it. Along with the pulsating pink grapefruit aromas and flavors there’s some passion fruit and pith. But you’ll be hard pressed to go beyond these dominating characteristics. A proverbial one-noter, but a good one. Imported by Jorge Ordoñez/Fine Estates from Spain.

Clean, simple and very much in the style that has made Las Brisas a go-to value white. Verdejo, Viura and Sauvignon Blanc are married and happy; the nose delivers peach and green apple, while the palate hits with grapefruit, apple, lime and mineral flavors. Clean, crisp, easygoing.
