Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A nicely balanced wine that matches a mineral feel with zesty acidity and sweet citrus fruits. Crisp enough to withstand various seafood dishes or salads, but with enough flavor to stand on its own as an apéritif.

This wine knows exactly what it wants to be: fresh, fruity and easy to love. With its red cherry, black pepper and cedary spice aromas and flavors, it’s a balanced, approachable red with style. It has backbone but also a soft touch. A fun and modern expression of the variety.

Nicely floral, with notes of honeysuckle that seem almost Muscat- or Gewürz-like. A slightly viscous mouthfeel adds weight to apple and pear flavors that linger on the finish, picking up spice notes.

This friendly white has a honeyed but delicate nose, and on the palate offers a more complex flavor profile than many Greek whites. It still has freshness, and a pear and citrus character, but there’s a touch of spice that adds dimension, too. A good everyday sip.

This energetic sip starts with aromas of pear, flowers, a zing of minerals, then follows with a fresh combination of lemon zest and honey on the palate. A floral, citric finish adds to the appeal. A fantastic wine for grilled seafood or poultry dishes.

Mantinia is the appellation for Moschofilero, a versatile grape that makes fine, crisp whites. This is a good example, a light, dry, crisply acidic wine that pours on the lemon-lime from start to long finish. Perfect to pair with oysters or grilled swordfish.

Pretty aromas of vanilla, blackberry and currant are followed by rounded black fruit flavors. Hints of violet and spiced nuts add character. A wine with a delicate touch, it can be enjoyed alone or paired with lighter dishes like fish or pork.

Clove and cinnamon on the nose and a slightly smoky flavor profile recommend this Greek red for everyday sipping and pairing with like-flavored dishes such as spice-rubbed ribs. The finish is rustic but the overall character likeable.
