Big and attractive, with a nice blend of black cherry, rose petal, cinnamon and rubber. Quite bright on the palate, with cherry, blackberry, coffee and chocolate. With all these descriptors you can see that it’s flavorful. It’s also spunky and fairly dark.

Moderately powerful, with red plum, tomato and spicy wood to the nose. The palate registers as nondescript, with standard fruit and oak. Grabby tannins, butter and vanilla dominate the finish. Seems more acidic and hard than ideal. Imported by Palm Bay Imports.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A touch of rubber mixes with aromas of cassis and blackberry to set the stage for a juicy, fresh palate loaded with cherry and plum flavors. Nothing crazy here, just solid red wine that makes the grade at all check points. Imported by Palm Bay Imports.

Adequately spicy, with some meatiness to the nose. In the mouth, there's tangy cherry, modest tannin and some minor chocolate notes. Starts out tight and rubbery before opening up some; finishes deeper than it begins.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Deeply colored, with a potent bouquet of leather, earth, lavender, chocolate and boysenberry. Tastes and feels fresh, courtesy of pulsing acidity. That same acidity works to amplify the berry-cherry fruit, which is nicely accented by notes of coffee. One of NC’s best Malbec efforts we’ve tried.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Aromatic, with blueberry and dried jerky scents. Good fruit with earthy, chocolaty nuances creates a pretty palate that follows the nose nicely. On the downside, it turns thin toward the end. But it manages to stay juicy; in some ways it tastes like Zinfandel.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Displays character and moderate richness, as any good Merlot should. The palate offers enough dark, smoky fruit to satisfy red-wine lovers, while there’s a pleasant smoothness to the mouthfeel. Finishes with a smack of hickory and smoked meat along with blackberry and zest. Imported by Palm Bay Imports.

Apple, wax bean and vanilla carry the nose to a palate of ripe melon and lemon. Shows good weight and balance, with a touch of oily meatiness. Imported by Palm Bay Imports.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Although this wine is more flowery in the nose than it is meaty or spicy, the flavors of blueberry, blackberry, nutmeg and chocolate work well together. And the finish is bright and powerful, with full tannins, but it isn’t overwhelming or starching.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Flowery, fresh aromas with a hint of butterscotch get things going, followed by an ordinary Chardonnay palate of apples and pears. The finish is full and textured, but a tad clumsy, too. Good, but somewhat ordinary.
