The Caracal (an African lynx breeding on the estate) is a spicy, dried-fruit driven wine that’s ready to drink now. Notes of black berry dust, animal hide, cigar tobacco and licorice root fill the nose and velvety mouth, while a good amount of woody spice lingers on the close.

With the Owl Post being a reference to their preferred method of pest management, this is a welcome new release from Neethlingshof. Notes of purple flowers, black cherry, fudgy brownie and soft lanolin appear in the bouquet and medium-weight mouth. Balanced acidity and soft tannins linger through to the solid finish. Drink now.

Starts off a touch rubbery, which blows off with time to reveal notes of peppery spice and black plum skins. The acidity is a bit sharp in the mouth, but is controlled by a sweet spice-infused finish.
