This wine is a delightful nod to Old World styling. The nose of dry leather, humidor, and earth carries to the palate with additional notes of dried herbs, plum and apple skins. The light weight balance should give this wide appeal.

A heavy note of baking spices is found throughout those of fleshy red plum, brown sugar and sweet red licorice, finishing with mild dried herbs. The bracing acidity makes this a natural for the cheese course. Try with blue cheese.

The balance of this wine has slightly spritzy acidity in the lead, wrapped with sheer tannins. Rich aromas of earth, leather and toast are contrasted by the bright fruit which is a sweet candylike strawberry-cherry at the forepalate.

Dry earth, leather and a spiciness reminiscent of cayenne pepper fill the nose and spread out across the palate, accented by plummy fruit. This youthful wine is a little spritzy, but should mellow within a few months, or just decant prior to serving. Try with pork tenderloin or lamb.

This wine offers lots of toast, cream and brown sugar, with notes of pineapple and white nectarine. Some herbaceous notes make it taste less than fully ripe, yet it’s soft and quite viscous on the palate. A good quaffer at a fair price.
