Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s a direct approach here in terms of the sparkler’s effervescence that gives the wine an incredibly clean and pristine quality. Rustico is off-dry and that slight sweetness helps move aromas of chopped fruit, banana and peach to the forefront.

Extremely floral and perfumed, like lilacs and tangerines layered over Granny Smith apples. Quite sweet, yet appealing, with a creamy, low-acid mouthfeel.

Light mineral tones appear on the surface of this neutral Prosecco Brut sparkler. The wine is tonic and firm with measured fruit and herbal tones that add a playful touch of complexity. It’s drying and firm in the mouth with an excellent ability to keep your palate refreshed.

Faintly sweet aromas of sugar and caramel open the Nino Franco; apples, sour apple and talcum powder round out the palate flavors. Finishes with a cottony texture, and faux-apple flavors. Tastes artificially sweetened, but that may appeal to some.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Extremely delicate and soft in terms of its aromatic intensity, this Prosecco Brut offers a graceful and precise embroidery of foamy, light peach fruit and spring flowers. Yet the sparkler is quite effective in the mouth thanks to its refreshing acidity and perky bubbling.

One of a number of rather split-personality sparklers we encountered., this opens with ginger ale and even beer-like aromas. In the mouth, the flavors are more floral and green, with mild lime notes. It feels brisk and the mousse is frothy, even bracing. Finishes dry with herb and grass accents.

Light, fragrant aromas of flowers, hay and herbs open this steadily bubbly, but very soft, sparkler. Decidedly sweet tropical fruit notes show in the mouth and on the medium-length finish. Still it carries its sweetness with more style than most.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Soft yet big in the mouth, this Proseccco opens with light aromas of apple, toast and talcum powder. The same apple-mineral profile, plus a little pear, shows up on the palate. On the back end, there’s a tart, tangy metallic note.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a delicately floral, sweet-tasting Prosecco with sharp effervescence that tastes spicy and fresh. The sparkler leaves the palate very clean and is particularly well-suited to foods such as crusty goat cheese pastry snacks.

If someone says bubbly by the glass, I think Prosecco. Among the handful of very good ones is this spry offering. Bartlett pear aromas precede a smooth palate accented by soda crackers, apple cider and lime. Fairly long on the finish, and above average in complexity. And remember: A bottle of this sassy stuff is less expensive than a glass of the cheapest Champagne at a bar or restaurant.
