Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
White peach and honey on the nose are followed by apricots, nuts and sugar on the palate. The wine is not terribly elegant but is flavorful and quite delicious. It’s powerful enough to age for several years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Toast and powerful fruit on the nose are misleading—this tends toward the soft side and has well-balanced flavors of berry and tobacco. It’s not a complex wine, though.

Grown in the hills outside Jerusalem, this has a light touch, with a fruity nose that opens into straightforward strawberry and cherry flavors. Pleasant but not too memorable; finish needs length.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
You might take this for a Cab because of the intensely pure cassis entry. Then in the midpalate, the prettiest cherries show up, along with lots of new-oaky flavors and elaborate tannins. All the parts are pretty in this exceptionally smooth, stylish Merlot. A great price for such a wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Certain Zin fans will celebrate this wine, which emphasizes Zin’s rustic, briary, high-alcohol personality. Brims with the flavors of brambly fruit and pepper, with dry tannins and a little bit of residual sugar.
