What a fine job EOS has done with this softly rich, hedonistic wine from Paso Robles. It has flavors of berries, cherries, chocolate and earth, though they’re a little syrupy due to low acids. The wine is still flavorful, with firm tannins holding the center. Best Buy.

Zesty, clean and fruity, with ripe grapefruit juice, fig and melon flavors. This SB finishes with a slightly sweet flourish of honey. From the beach to the patio, it’ll be just fine.

This blend of Sangiovese, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah is okay for quickies like a cheesey pizza. It’s dry and hot, with ripe black cherry flavors that last a long time on the finish.

Paso Robles is making a play for the most congenial home in California to sweet Muscat, under any name, and this wine shows why. It’s crisp and acidic, sweet but not cloying, and offers wonderful flavors of mangoes, papayas and honey-sweetened peach pie. Addictively good, and the alcohol is only 11.5%.

Fresh and fruity, with sweetish flavors of apples, cotton candy and peaches. Seems like it has a little sugar, but it’s nice and crisp with acidity.

Another unoaked Chard hits the market, and with good results at a good price. Nothing but juicy peach, pear and pineapple flavors and crisp acidity. Oak probably would have brought it down.

Everything comes together in this handsome Zinfandel, Sangiovese and Petite Sirah blend. A bouquet of dark raspberry and deep floral notes opens to a full palate of similar flavors with leather and black pepper accents. This has a lively tang on the tongue and a big finish, with mouth-coating but even tannins. This notable value may be consumed now, but will be even better in a year. Best Buy.
