Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A dry, powerful wine, almost austere initially, dominated by bitter chocolate and dried raisins. This is a great, firm, structured style.

With its enticing perfumes, sweet plum and damson fruit flavors, this is initially a seductive wine. But at the same time, the vivid acidity and the strong tannic element suggest good aging potential.

Dry, with acidity, black currant flavors and tight tannins. The wine is freshened with spice and acidity, only just showing its sweetness with black jelly flavor at the end.

A very sweet style, with flavors of Hershey bars, figs, vanilla and caramel. Rather out of balance.

A smooth, ripe, caramel- and toffee-flavored wine, with sweet fruit. Tastes young for a 20-year old, this still has good structure and is well integrated.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A fine, mature tasting wine, touched with wood as well as ripe white fruits. It shows good complexity, richness and balance. A fine white Port to sip on its own.

Aromas of raisins lead to sweet fruit and intense ripe flavors. The wine has richness but the main impression is of smoothness and softness, along with sweetness. Now owned by Portugal's largest wine company (also owner of Ferreira, Sandeman and Mateus Rose Offley Ports bear the name of Baron Forrester, the Englishman who created the modern style of Port in the 19th century.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Offley’s Ports have improved considerably in quality. This LBV is the first fruits of new owners Sogrape, Portugal’s largest wine company (who also own Ferreira and Sandeman Ports). It is ripe, elegant and immediately fruity, with an attractive aroma of tea roses. But with its tannins and balance between sweetness and dryness, there is a more serious side to the wine, which suggests an aging potential. —R.V.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is more of a chunky, rich tawny; the mouthfeel comes across more syrupy than svelte. But with a ton of hazelnut/walnut character and plenty of bitter coffee nuances on the finish, it comes home nicely.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s hardly any tawny color to speak of here; it’s actually deep red, much like a dry table wine. On the palate, candied flavors mingle with powerful berries. The finish is heavy and exceedingly long, offering flavors of coffee and burnt toast. This tawny is youthful and warm, emphasizing fruit over typical toffee and caramel characteristics.
