Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Aromas of cherries and vanilla, with berry-zinger tea accents. The mixed red fruits are bright enough to carry this light but zippy wine. Would make a good picnic quaff.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A sweet, medium-bodied style of Pinot Gris, with honeyed flavors of apple, pear and pineapple. Despite the sweetness, the finish is nicely balanced, with a lush texture. Even prettier is the wine’s pale copper hue.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, pairing ripe, honeyed stone-fruit flavors with slightly grassy, herbal notes. It’s softer and lusher than many of its competitors, with less biting acidity and a soft, mouthwatering finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Blends ripe tropical fruit—even including hints of mango and banana—with more pungent notes in a full-bodied, almost sweet-seeming Sauvignon Blanc. Flashy upfront, then fades a bit on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Apple, pear and quince aromas segue into a pleasant mix of tree and stone fruits on the palate, wrapped up by a zippy, citrusy finish. Best Riesling yet from this producer, worth trying if you can find it.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A wine of interesting contrasts, the 2007 Riesling from Omaka Springs takes the strident lime-sherbet and wet-stone notes often associated with dry Rieslings and marries them with an off-dry style. It’s medium in body, with those minerally notes helping to balance the sweetness on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Less showy than many of its brethren, Omaka Springs’s 2005 Sauvignon instead shows touches of smoke and minerals in its subdued aromatics. Flavors combine citrus and melon on the midpalate, then veer towards crisp lime and grapefruit on the persistent finish. Imported by T.G.I.C. Importers.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This plump, medium-bodied Pinot Gris has lots of bold fruit on the nose, ranging from luscious pears and ripe melons to crisp apples. The flavors aren’t quite as clean and expressive, but there’s still decent fruit along with tarry, rubbery notes. Finishes dry and chalky. Imported by T.G.I.C. Importers.

Smoky and herbal, with hints of cabbage vying with overripe cherries and tree bark. Seems big in the mouth, then you realize it’s missing flesh on the midpalate.
