The attack is powerful, with a punch of cassis spreading broadly and deeply across the palate. With its sturdy, clean tannins, this beautiful wine displays classic power, elegance and balance.

A very good Opus with plenty of forward cherries and black raspberries as well as rich notes of spiced oak that give a nougat or crunchy vanilla granola sweetness to the finish. The vintage was not Opus One’s best, but the wine is impeccably crafted, and shows its usual fine tannic structure.

Made in the Opus style, which is graceful, limpid and elegant, but with hidden depths of authority and power. The blackberry, cherry and oak flavors are pretty, but the wine is most notable for its harmony and grace. Tannins play only a supportive role, but they will let this wine age effortlessly for many years.

Had I blind tasted this wine, there is no question in my mind I would've assumed it to be a 10-year old Bordeaux. Beautiful brick red color, with a palate of graham cracker, dark chocolate, cassis, and baking spice. This wine is pure elegance. And easily had 20 more years in it, if not more. Worth every penny.
