Exceptionally lush and ripe, this broadly tropical Pinot Gris oozes with papaya, mango, banana and mashed pear flavors. Exotic, soft and totally plush, it’s like sinking into the most comfortable chair on the planet.

Basalt soils differentiate this from the surrounding areas; the flavors of the wine are stiff and rocky and sublime. The rock accentuates the firm elegance of the grape, and seems to bring out the Pinot-ness. Cranberry, wild cherry, spice and just a hint of peach, believe it or not; the flavors so well-integrated it strains the palate to suss them out. It’s just plain delicious, and perfectly built.

Silky and smooth, this is loaded with effusive cherry fruit and scents of perfumed cherry blossoms. It’s open and warm and packed with red fruits, and is the most accessible of the Owen Roe 2006 Pinots. Enjoy it for its forward fruit and immediate pleasures.

From Eola Hills fruit, this is elegant and varietal, with a lovely black olive streak along with tight, spicy cranberry fruit.

DuBrul fruit is here taken to the limit, delivering dense, almost syrupy flavors of concentrated blueberry, balsamic vinegar and moist earth. Big and nicely detailed, this mixes in toasty cracker, vanilla and tannins tasting of black tea.

Dusty and light, this sends up scents of pretty rose petals dusted with chocolate powder. The lightly floral quality makes for an elegant and restrained wine, but the chocolaty oak keeps it flavorful and very appealing.

Very solid—it is hard and a bit chunky—this is dark, sensuous Syrah. Streaks of black tar, smoke and tannin take it to the dark side of the grape, moving into an earthy, smoky finish.

Juicy and tart, this is a glorious match for spicy chicken dishes. The Crawford-Beck vineyard is just over an acre, with volcanic and sedimentary soils that preserve acidity over a lengthy ripening cycle. Packed with fresh apple, guava and pear fruit, and loaded with natural acidity.

A supremely rich Riesling, from a 25-year-old block of the DuBrul vineyard, this is so thick with flavor that it seems almost like a floral Chardonnay. It’s stainless steel fermented, bright and warm and opulent, with Riesling character in the nose but unusual thickness in the mouth. It has a nectar-like mix of honey, wildflower, peach and apricot.

The ’06 displays bright and crisp flavors of currant and cherry. Tannins are substantial, with a satisfying earthy streak underscoring notes of graphite and olive. It’s not a big wine, but it delivers a pleasing mix of New World fruit and Old World earthiness.
