An overt, forward Viognier, this has flavors of white pepper, white chocolate and fresh grass rounding out its medium-full palate. Also demonstrates the grape’s characteristic slippery, oily character.

Aromas of black cherry, mocha and dried herbs prepare the palate for the crisply defined black cherry, plum and herb flavors that veer toward tomato at times. This is a crisp, medium-bodied Merlot, with a tart, clean finish.

Easy to drink yet a bit interesting as well, this is a top-notch Chardonnay bargain. Features hazelnut and melon on the nose, then adds pineapple and vanilla to the mix on the palate before ending with a hint of white pepper. Drink now.

A remarkable value, Oxford Landing’s GSM is a convincing argument in favor of blending. It offers a complex mélange of leather, spice and cherry notes, medium body and a fresh, vivacious finish. Considering it can probably be found for around $80 per case, this would make a great everyday wine for drinking over the next year or so.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A touch of herbaceousness speaks to this wine's Cabernet Sauvignon origins, adding a bit of spice to its otherwise ordinary strawberry-fruity flavors. Finishes soft, without much length or intensity.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bland McIntosh apple-and-pistachio bouquet ushers you into a solid but uninspiring palate of dark black berry fruit, oak and anise. Wintergreen and oak flavors dominate the finish

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The Oxford Landing wines take a different stylistic tack than many of the similarly priced Oz counterparts. This is a relatively restrained Chardonnay, featuring melon and pear fruit and a touch of dried spices, but no overtly tropical notes and minimal oak influence, making it more versatile with food.

Slightly chunky in texture, this value-priced Pinot Grigio offers up a mouthful of pulpy apple and pear fruit, but not a lot of nuance or sophistication. Fine as a weeknight apéritif or alongside grilled chicken.

Aromas of honey, tangerine and apricot open to a flavorful but not too sweet palate of apple, nutmeg and spice flavors. Good, but a bit short and light on the back end.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s twice as much going on in the nose of this wine than anyone has a right to expect at this price. The Oxford Landing 2008 Viognier unfolds with heady scents of gardenia, honeysuckle and hyssop that give way to a luxuriously textured palate imbued with tones of ripe papayas. A good partner for Asian food. Drink up in 2010.
