Not experienced enough at barrell tasting to assign a point value. I have no doubt that in 20 years this will be sensational. But as to how it tastes right now, the Petrus ranked 4th out of the five barrel tastes we were priveleged to try at the chateaus

Not experienced enough at barrell tasting to assign a point value. I have no doubt that in 20 years this will be sensational. But as to how it tastes right now, the Petrus ranked 4th out of the five barrel tastes we were priveleged to try at the chateaus on this day. To my wife and me, the best of the day was Chateau Magdelaine, a sister Chateau in St. Emilion. The pros, of course disagree. We both agree that Magdelaine was our #1, then Angelus, followed by Troplong Mondot, the Petrus, and last, but still outstanding (about 92 or 93 to drink right now) was Chateau Sansonnet. I should have posted this sooner. I know I will be ordering lots of Magdelaine futures.
