Very fruity, with sweet, grapy flavors verging on Port. The superripe fruit catches your immediate attention, then hits an odd spot with a gluey back palate that is entirely disconnected from the front.

One of a very few Sauv Blancs made from Klipsun vineyard fruit, this is a light and pleasant wine, mixing gentle flavors of melon and sweet grass, much like a fresh, young Touraine.

Baking spice and cinnamon highlight the aromas and continue on, wrapped around wild berry and plum flavors. The tannins are polished and firm; this is an easy-drinking Syrah that offers lip-licking enjoyment.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, this Red Mountain red suffers from an excess of high-toned, volatile aromas and rough, untamed tannins. The grapes sources are solid but there are too many raw, unpolished edges; it doesn’t quite pull itself together.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Fragrant and meaty, with hints of barnyard, leather and herb. Right now the wine has a reductive character, tight and showing scents of rubber, but with airing and swirling it opens into a compact, well-constructed, ageworthy Bordeaux-style wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Don’t look for grassy or herbaceous flavors, because there is not a trace of either. This is a stand-alone style that turns the usually snarly, gooseberry-flavored Sauvignon Blanc grape into a honeyed pussycat, ripe and tropical and slightly sweet, with a toffee candy finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This has good, clean, ripe fruit with some mass and muscle, and the flavors go deep rather than broad. Berry, currant and cherry are in the mix, with polished tannins and finishing threads of coffee and chocolate. Nothing shy here, but delicious.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Purple/black and compact, this wine needs plenty of breathing time to reveal its layers. Klipsun vineyard fruit brings power and tannic muscle. The aromas are intriguing; a bit overripe and raisiny, but also offering truffle, smoked meat and burnt toast.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The fruit is light and almost delicate, suggesting mountain strawberries and sour plums. The one-year-old French oak still imparts a significant burst of bourbon barrel flavor, especially in the finish, which resonates like a bourbon and chocolate bon-bon.
