Pencarrow is Palliser’s second label, which helps explain this wine’s lack of body; presumably the richer lots went into the Palliser Estate bottling (not yet tasted). That said, it offers pretty cherry and herb flavors and a lingering finish.

Another brilliantly evocative Marlborough wine, full of the most beautiful, complex flavors. Apple, peach and citrus fruits roll down the palate in waves, made shining bright by high acids, and finish dryish and opulent. This is simply a joy to sip.

A clean wine that pushes acidity front and center to play a starring role. The flavors are international Pinot Noir, with red raspberry or cherry, beetroot and crushed hard spice, and that silky mouthfeel that comes with light tannins. It’s addictively drinkable, yet could have more depth and substance.

Palliser’s wines seem to be improving across the range over recent vintages, with this being their best Sauvignon Blanc yet. A smoky, slightly fumé character marks the nose, then ripe peaches and nectarines wash across the palate, with just enough grassiness to impart varietal character. Plump and round, it’s soft and approachable without being sloppy, ending on a note of ripe tangerines. Drink now.

Pallsier's second-tier Chardonnay isn't imported to the U.S., but for readers where it is available, it probably offers decent value. Subtle toast and lees add complexity to apple and citrus fruit. Crisp acidity and a chalky, slightly tannic feel make it a good with food.

Although Palliser's wines are represented in the U.S., the Chardonnays are not, which is a shame given the evident quality. This is a medium- to full-bodied wine, marked with honey, toast, peach and orange aromas and bold pineapple flavors, yet it finishes crisp, not sweet, buttery or cloying.

Relatively thin, but with charming apple and pear aromas and flavors. The wine is pretty, it just lacks a little palate presence.

Starts with notes of peach, pineapple and jalapeño oil. Light in body, the flavors just slip away, leaving behind hints of peaches and green peppers. Imported by Negociants USA, Inc.
