Showing an enormous blast of cherries and raspberries, this Pinot is saved from being a fruit bomb by earthy, mushroomy complexities and a hit of acidity that makes the mouth water. It’s way too young now, and should easily take 5–7 years in the cellar to come around.

Tons of fruit in this easy, direct Pinot Noir. Raspberry, cherry, pomegranate, persimmon and cola begins to describe it, further sweetened by smoky, caramelized oak. Rich and crisp, if a little one-dimensional. But it’s a really nice dimension.

There are masses of pineapple, apricot, orange and green apple fruit in this Chardonnay, accented with strong Carneros acidity. Quite a good wine, but once you get past the flavors, it falls off in interest. Could be a rare Chardonnay sleeper. Try giving it 2–3 years in the cellar.

Taut and intensely structured, the compact smoke, lime, ginger and nut bouquet here hints at what’s within. The mouth offers lime and chalk, vanilla and apples and a creamy yet firm mouthfeel—it’s surprisingly full, with bright acidity. The dry, crisp finish with its spicy, toasty flavors has great length, again showing structure and refinement. Will be at its best in two-plus years. Cellar Selection.

A Chardonnay of great power, this one’s from high mountains in the north county that don’t have their own appellation yet, but could someday. The wine is explosive in pineapple pie, fig, tangerine marmalade and honey flavors that are almost sweet, but balanced with cool-climate acidity. Drink now through 2012.

A lush Chardonnay that shows the minerals and acidity of cool-climate Carneros. The flavors are complicated, offering waves of Meyer lemon candy, grilled pineapple, ripe Bosc pear and woodspice. Now through 2010.

A nice Chardonnay that feels pedigreed and well-made, with crisp acidity and a creamy texture framing very ripe tropical fruit and citrus flavors. The oak dominates, however, making the wine heavy in sweet, caramelized toast.

A rich but elegant Chardonnay. Shows massive, concentrated flavors of pineapples, pears and green apples, liberally accented with the vanilla and buttered toast of oak barrels. Flamboyant, yet balanced with crisp coastal acidity and a tang of minerals.

What a price, but what a wine. For starters, it’s huge in cherry compote flavors, drizzled with sweet mocha, vanilla and powdered sugar. That makes it sound like a dessert wine, but it’s dry, with rich, ripe tannins and firm acids. What it lacks in subtlety it more than makes up for in sheer decadence.

Rich and flamboyant, with strong flavors of lemondrop candy, pineapple crème brûlée, vanilla, buttered toast and cinnamon spices. The texture is rich in buttercream, yet enlivened with crisp acidity. A delicious, exotic Chardonnay ready for drinking now.
