Pavilion has a perfect record with Chardonnay, four vintages in a row with a consistent score. The ‘06 like its predecessors is ripe and satisfying, with good varietal character. The peach and pineapple flavors have creamy, smoky nuances.

Clean, well-structured and bone dry, this wine has great structure. The only problem is a near-total absence of flavor. It’s very weak in grapefruit and lime. But it’s a good wine for big parties and such.

Sometimes all you need is a nice, inexpensive Merlot to go with that steak, and this is a good one. It’s dry and fruity, a little rough around the edges, with rich berry-cherry flavors and a full, complete mouthfeel.

This is an awfully good price for such a nice Cabernet. It’s well-structured and ripe, with a good acid-tannin balance and forward blackberry and cherry flavors. You’ll be surprised at how much elegance there is.

A solid effort in an everyday Cab, rich and ripe in blackberry, currant, cherry and cocoa flavors. The texture is smooth and velvety.

Here’s a fine Merlot that can stand beside a nice steak, and won’t break the bank. It’s drily tannic, with currant, cherry and licorice flavors that finish in a swirl of peppery spices. Drink now.

Not a bad wine at all. Has cherry-berry fruit, with gritty, sweet tannins. Totally dry.

Pleasant sipping here, with a rich core of blackberry, coffee and chocolate flavors that drink very dry, but sweetened with a splash of oaky vanillins. Good structure, too. A good value.

Here’s a decent inexpensive Merlot, a little rustic in the way the tannic structure rubs with raw elbows, but otherwise dry and fruity. Pleases for its oaky cherry, blackberry and raspberry flavors.

A good Syrah at a good price. It’s fully dry and quite balanced, with a nice tension between the dusty tannins, acids, oak and the earthy, blackberry fruit. That feeling of elegant complexity lasts through the finish. Nice job.
