This is a fruity, soda-pop wine, with fresh and pretty fruit flavors of strawberry and cherry, but not much behind the attractive open. It’s like a lightweight Beaujolais, with some chippy oak flavors to add some heft to the otherwise weightless finish.

Although it has but a tiny percentage of California’s production, Washington is not immune to the grape glut. Négociant brands such as this are the result, offering wines like this sound, accessible, soft and fruity Merlot at a decent price.
