A blend of Peachy’s best Zins, and it costs a few bucks more, but isn’t better. Forward flavors of raspberries and cherries are wrapped in soft tannins and acids. The wine could use more structure. —S.H. .

A very fine Zin, with balanced aromas of blackberries, chocolate and the smell of a warm berry thicket on a hot, dusty summer's day. Big in the mouth, with pungent, spicy fruit flavors and a bite of acid.

Sure, there's something wild and wacky about Zin that Europeans don't get. It's not well-behaved. It's rude, aggressive, over the top. It's a blast of wild fruit and spices. It's high in alcohol. It's not a parlor wine, but that's what we like about it! Pulls off Zin's bad-boy act, in spades.

Shows real Peachy Canyon class in the ripe fruit, spice flavors and lush tannic structure. The wine is much more rustic and angular than the Paso Robles bottlings, but it’s still a fine Zinfandel.

The real McCoy here. Pretty aromas of red berries and blackberries ride along dusty spices and earth, leading to a rich , round, spicy, fruity wine. It's notable for its dry balance and harmony, with firm but easy tannins and soft acids.

Lovely aromas, like a cherry-filled chocolate-caramel candy, and it's great drinking, too. Complex wild berry fruit and spice fill the mouth in a delightful explosion of flavor. Thankfully, it's dry and balanced, despite hefty alcohol.

The aroma is almost delicate for a Paso Zin. It's faintly earthy and dusty, with hints of berries. It's also austere in the mouth, with dusty tannins wrapped around soft, berry fruit. This is a wine of structural integrity. Dry and balanced.

Rugged and robust, with flavors of grilled blackberries, plums and a meaty taste, like stir-fried ground beef splashed with soy sauce and dusted with black pepper. Fine with sausage-based pasta dishes.

Quite fruity, with jammy blackberry and blueberry flavors at the fore. A zingy tartness on th finish keeps it from being cloying, however. Spicy, with toasty oak at the end.

Hot and alcoholic in the nose, with ripe fruit flavors, it’s thick and jammy through the middle. The elevated alcohol level obliterates any subtleties that might have been there.
