Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dry, soft, and tannic, with earthy, coffee and cherry flavors, this clean red wine is rather rustic. It will wash down burgers and beef stew very easily.

Dark color. Aromas of herbs and medicinal notes. Awkward flavors, mingling berries with odder, almost synthetic ones. But it’s dry, with soft tannins and good texture. A bizarre mix.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Robust and bone dry, with palate-coating tannins, this full-bodied young wine is rich in blackberry, coffee and dried herb flavors, with a very long finish. It’s a big, tough wine that calls for big, rich meats.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dark and full-bodied for a rosé, with heavy-handed flavors of raspberry jam and toast that have a vegetal edge.

Overtly sweet, with sugary flavors of candied pineapples, vanilla fudge and butterscotch.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Pretty good for the money, with some fancy blackberry and chocolate flavors and a sumptuous mouthfeel. There are some ruder herbal, green notes that take it down a few notches. The bottom line is, this dry wine is just fine for most occasions. Best Buy.

Sharp in acidity, this Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah blend has simple flavors of cherries, raspberries and chocolate-covered mint candy.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
In 1997 this wine was wonderfully rich. This year, it’s not, instead providing less ripe flavors of tobacco, sage and mint. Those pretty tannins are there, soft and intricate, and the acidity is fine. It’s a victim of its vintage.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very rich in tropical fruit pie filling, cotton candy, raspberry sorbet and caramelized vanilla flavors. Tastes a little too sweet, although it’s balanced with good acids.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A decent, everyday red for easy drinking with meats, cheeses and pasta. A blend of Syrah, Cabernet, Petite Sirah and Viognier, which gives a lemony brightness to the berry flavors.
