Big sweet nose at first, then becoming classically earthy and barnyardy, some sour mash aromas; sweet fruit in the front of the mouth, black cherry and sour cherry aromas mix with earth tones and dry tannins; the fruit is beginning to fade in this wine as it sits in the glass, assuming a dry earthy character; still quite a good wine with a long, spicy, cherry-laced finish; perhaps not the most sophisticated, but a classic in its own right. Chevalier Candidates’ dinner] Sweet and perfumed nose, loads of fresh fruit, very aromatic, floral and exotic, but missing some of the herbal and lemon peel elements that these wines have; smooth and sweet if somewhat simple in the mouth; quite pleasant, smooth and sweet with a silky texture, good deal of baby fat; but not much depth or muscle here.
