Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, this bold, assertively fruity wine is still very primary, showing a floral, almost confected, bouquet of cherries and plums. Picks up hints of chocolate and spice on the solidly built palate, then adds a juicy squirt of acidity on the finish.

A perplexing wine to evaluate. It’s certainly big enough—based on its alcohol and tannins—but it lacks the flesh to fully cover its bones. Cherry and plum flavors finish crisp and short.

The fruit here is of the red variety—perhaps strawberry or raspberry—but there’s also a slightly green, chlorophyllic note. This herbal streak gives an otherwise creamy textured wine a dry, astringent edge that sticks out a bit on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Surprisngly rich and full, with solid integration of plummy fruit, spice and oak. There’s just enough texture and nuance to keep things interesting. Normally Perrin does a solid job with this blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, and it didn’t miss the mark, even in this wet vintage

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah boasts a wonderfully supple, fleshy mouthfeel yet remains firmly structured. Cherry pie scents add dark chocolate, earth and mineral notes on the palate, then finish crisp and peppery, framed by dusty, cocoa powder-like tannins. Drink now or hold 3–4 years.

A soft, full-bodied blend based on Grenache Blanc, this Perrin offering features scents and flavors of apples and spicedrops along with enough minerailty on the finish to retain some interest. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Impressively sized and full-bodied, but doesn’t show the flesh or richness needed to rate higher. Roasted fruit, leather and chocolate flavors finish on a slightly alcoholic note. Hold 2–3 years and hope it comes around. Imported by Vineyard Brands.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The Perrin négociant business is now bottling a number of individual cuvées from the Côtes-du-Rhône. This one, a 50-50 blend of Syrah and Grenache, features plum and cherry fruit, with complex earth, spice and leather notes. Firmly structured, look for it to be at its peak from 2008–2012. Imported by Vineyard Brands.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Full and lush, made with 80% Grenache whose ripeness clearly shows. Brandied cherries and well-integrated wood spice on the nose, then superripe stone fruits on the palate, cherries especially, but also including hints of apricot and peach. A dusting of cocoa and dried spices add nuance, while it all comes together in a velvety finish. Imported by Vineyard Brands.
