Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The Pertinace evolved nicely in the glass; at first there are simple lime peel aromas, but over time, they become richer and slightly more complex. On the palate there is pear, as well as the lime and an interesting smoky quality. Crisp and with good balance, the finish is a little short. Imported by MW Imports.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From the Vigneto Nervo cru of Barbaresco, this well-concentrated wine delivers notes of dark spice, leather, tobacco, mesquite wood and oak. The natural aromas associated with Nebbiolo are still buried, so give this wine time to unwind with a few more years of cellar aging. In the mouth, it shows soft, meaty fruit with a smooth, velvety texture.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Garnet ruby with orange highlights—characteristic coloring of the Nebbiolo grape—give this wine an elegant, classic appearance. Aromas focus on dried berries, spice and licorice and the wine is polished, smooth and firm in the mouth. Pair it with braised meat or lamb stew.

Starts off with modest cherry fruit and an earthy undercurrent, and never really develops anything else. Crisp cherry flavors turn herbal on the finish. Imported by MV Imports.

On the traditional side of the spectrum, with scents of tar, prune and herbs followed by flavors of dried fruit and marinated meat. Round in the mouth, then clamps down on the finish with some drying tannins. Try in 2010. Imported by MV Imports.

This is lighter Barbera showing a pleasant very ripe, plummy character. The wine has evolved early, and gives a seamless backdrop to the pretty flavors of spice and Christmas pudding. Easygoing and complex. Imported by MW Imports.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Pertinace’s Barbaresco Marcarini is a tight and traditional wine with light spice notes wrapped around white cherry and wild raspberry. The wine is astringent and compact in the mouth with raw rhubarb and cola-like flavors on the long finish.
