This Riesling stays the citrus track, with zesty lemon and lime flavors and aromas rising even above those of white peach. A slick, olive-oily feel tempers the zesty citrus acidity well, making for a whole whose parts work together quite nicely.

A straightforward wine in every way but for its intricate blend (54% Shiraz, 29% Cab Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Cab Franc). Aromas are of bitter herb and grape jelly; palate to finish offers plum, earth and herb flavors.

Very fragrant, with white pepper and fuzzy ripe peach aromas. Peach continues on through the palate, with lemon and grapefruit accents, all couched in a softish, minerally feel. Imported by The Hess Collection.

This wine is full of dark, earthy, stably, black olive-y aromas and flavors. Their predominance makes for an interesting wine, but also a wine that tastes mature beyond its years. Finishes with tree bark and leaf notes. Drink up. Imported by The Hess Collection.

Shows clarified butter and a zing of lime or lemon peel on the nose. A fatter-style Chard, this Barossa offering successfully follows the straightahead, stone-fruit-and-oak recipe. A good wine, but a pretty run-of-the-mill one.

Nose is closed, but does show some attic dust. Flavors of red plum and coffee are wrapped in a smooth-tannin coccoon on the palate, and persist through the finish.

A good value, Lehmann’s 2004 Clancy’s easily blends cherry, blackberry, vanilla, smoke, spice, coffee and maple syrup aromas and flavors into a harmonious, integrated whole. The texture is creamy-soft, showing just a dusting of tannins on the finish. Drink now.

Despite having the best lots skimmed off into various different cuvées, Lehmann’s regular Shiraz remains pleasant and easy drinking. Cinnamon and clove scents accent red fruit flavors, while hints of pie crust and vanilla add grace notes. Drink now.

Shows good varietal character in its herb- and tobacco-accented cassis aromas and flavors, but lacks the intensity to put it in the top class. A well-priced Cabernet for near-term consumption or restaurant wine lists.
