Classic Paso Zin, with its ripe, brambly flavors of wild blackberries, raspberries and blueberries and a raisiny streak that adds a wild edge. For all the fruity flavor, it’s bone dry, and the alcohol level is controlled. Delicious with a ragout of beef or game.

This single-vineyard Pinot Noir shows the crisp acidity and clean varietal profile that this cool-climate appellation brings to its wines. Offering forward flavors of cherries, currants, cola, mocha and Asian spices, it’s nice and dry and ready to drink now.

The acidity is a bit too high, making for a stinging mouthfeel, and the cherry flavors are out of whack, with some unripe green notes, on this bone-dry, somewhat simple wine.

Unacceptably vegetal and moldy, not to mention being excessively sweet. Almost undrinkable, but not quite.

This unusual blend, based on Lagrein, is dry and robust, the kind of full-bodied wine you drink in front of a fireplace when you want something warming. It’s a tannic wine with lots of earth and cherries.
