The second wine of Jorge Moreira’s Poeira is rich and smooth, the bright berry fruits sinking into a cushiony texture. The acidity and smoky wood provide a counterpoint to its firm, youthful tannins.

Wonderfully balanced and structured, this is a wine that gives a complete series of flavors from chocolate, black stone fruits, layers of wood and finally the essential acidity. Its texture is grainy, dusty, firm and ready to age for several years.

A big and dusty wine from young vines. Ripe and fruity, packed with sweet damson flavors as well as a fine layer of acidity. Drink young and fresh.

Big, powerful and rich, beautiful fruit and acidity along with densely structured tannins. This is a powerful expression of great Douro fruit, packed with intensity and concentration, likely to age for many years.

Tasted just after bottling, the wood dominates. The fruit is there, of course, elegant and dense. Showing austerity, minerality, very expressive of the 2008 vintage, a wine that will take time to open out.

Rounded and smooth, with some Alvarinho in the blend (which explains the regional appellation), giving weight, full-bodied richness to go with bright green fruits. There is just a final touch of wood.

A hugely dark, dense wine, packed with sweet, ripe fruit. Berry flavors dominate, while the tannins turn in a class act of dryness and intensity. This is a great, solidly based wine, finishing with fresh minty acidity.
