Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The flagship wine from Alorna is a blend of Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon, the two grapes melding well into a rich, harmonious whole. Flavors of spice, black figs and dark plum skin tannins are smoothed by 12 months wood aging. There is an edge of youth, which suggests good aging potential.

Still very young, so while there is structure, some dry tannins and hints of berry fruits, at the moment it is unfocused, needing several years. Expect then a wine that has elegance rather than power, and considerable structure.

. Features a bright, bouncy bouquet of red fruit married to a light to medium-weight palate. Dark, chocolaty flavors add a warming bass note. Shows some dry tannins on the finish, but doesn’t seem particularly ageworthy; drink now and over the next two years.

A salmon-colored wine, very fresh, with a full palate that carries flavors of strawberries and red currants. The wine is dry, but with the smooth caramel texture, it seems sweeter and softer.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The current fashion among Portuguese winemakers is to add Cabernet Sauvignon to Touriga Nacional. In the case of this wine, the Cabernet adds some bite as well as spice, giving the Touriga the chance to show its firm, dark tannins and juicy blackberry fruit flavors. It’s a wine that needs aging, 2–3 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Firmly tannic, this wine revels in its foursquare structure, its dark core of dryness, surrounded by black plum skins and sweet, juicy acidity. This is a wine for dense stews and rich meats by open fires. Age for 3 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Using the older spelling of the Arinto grape, this citrus-perfumed wine is round and soft initially, but then shows ripe freshness, sweet lemons, orange peel and a crisp structure. Light vanilla rounds it out.
