Clean, with a light spritzy feel on the palate, this offers nice hay, melon and even tangerine notes on the nose. The mouth shows more of the same, with green apple and herb flavors as well. Completely correct Vinho Verde, this finishes dry, with a mineral citrus tang that fairly begs for seafood.

A whiff of peach or apricot gives this Vinho Verde a little extra interest beyond its green apple and citrus flavors. Crisp and refreshing, with a tart, chalky finish.

With is purple color, aromas of bitter chocolate and coffee flavors along with acidity and raspberry fruits, this is an easy but appealing wine. Finishes dry. Best Buy. —R.V.

Pineapple and pear aromas lead into a ripe (for Vinho Verde) wine that at first seems a bit soft. Give it some time though, and a steely edge of lime-like acidity emerges, giving it just the requisite bite to cut through a plate of grilled sardines. A blend of Loureiro and Trajdura.
