Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Smoky, meaty aromas set the scene for an intensely rich wine. If the wood element is very apparent in the smoke and spice flavors, this is youth. Underneath, there is a concentrated dark series of black fruits, bacon and big, dry tannins. The wine needs to age for at least four years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The attractive Quinta de la Rosa, at Pinhão, under the ownership of the Bergqvist family, is aquiring a good name for its table wines as well as its Ports. This vintage has delicious, ripe, sweet fruit on the nose and fine forward fruit and sweetness. The ripeness and almost-jelly juiciness give a real sense of the wine being made from serious Port fruit. —R.V.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From a small, low-yielding parcel of old vines, this Port comes with huge intensity and concentrated flavors. It is dark, powerful and almost brooding. The potential in this wine, with its dry tannins over the juicy fruit, is impressive—15–20 years at least.
