Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This estate, managed by the Symington family, is a great Douro property by any standard. This hot 2003 vintage is properly big and dense, but the elegance and style of the estate shows through, with delicious ripe plum flavors over the new wood. Age this for at least 6 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This wine is made from new plantings at Roriz, which is controlled by a partnership of the Symington family and João van Zeller. A blend of Tinta Roriz, Tinta Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Barroca, it was matured in French oak. It’s a big, generous, fruity wine and plenty of dusty tannins and bright fruit give a big, structured feel. —R.V.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This big, firm wine, produced by the team that makes Dow’s and Graham’s Port, is as impressive as always. With its tight plum skins and dense character, ripe jammy texture and sweet fruit, it combines immediate charm with the potential for long-term aging.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The dark purple color, the huge, solid tannins and new wood flavors make this a powerful but still elegant wine, produced by the Symington family in partnership with João van Zeller. A layer of dryness gives structure to the powerful, concentrated young fruit. —R.V.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very fruity, elegant and supple for a vintage Port, with waves of raspberry and mulberry fruit that cascade across the palate. Some dusty tannins and tart acidity show on the finish, so this does have some structure, but it's likely destined for early drinking, not old bones.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Top wine from this smaller estate. It’s incredibly stylish, even as young as it is now. A lighter body featuring more liquid and less plum pudding should mean that it will be an easy drinker come maturity. With pure fruit, spice and lots of coffee already poking through, it has a fine future. Drink after 2010.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Jointly owned by the Symington family and João van Zeller, this Port is charming, with balanced, attractive, open fruit. If there is a touch of greenness in the wine from the tannins, it is still going to be a delicious Port. Imported by Premium Port Wines, Inc.

Shows excellent complexity and minerality for a wine of this price, with smoke and stone dust notes layered elegantly over cherry-berry fruit. It’s medium-bodied, with creamy tannins that make it immediately approachable. Drink now. Imported by Premium Port Wines, Inc.

A joint venture with the van Zeller and Symington families, this is a surprisingly airy, light wine which seems to miss weight and depth. Sweetness, black figs, lean.
