A bitter edged wine, with a dark cocoa flavor. The whole wine is dark hued, veiled, not quite in definition. There is spice rather than fruit until, right at the end, some cranberry flavors emerge.

A quinta on the western edge of the Port region, owned by the Moreira family, who also produce a Douro table wine. New wood aromas are unusual for a vintage Port, and the wood dominates the black fruit flavors. This is an unusual, modern style of Port, one that doesn’t quite come off.

Dry in character, not a heavyweight. The wine has some fresh fruit through the dry tannins and spice. There’s good balance, even if the wine is on the light side.
