A beautiful Syrah perfect for drinking now. It’s softly tannic and dry, but very fruity, with forward flavors of blackberries, cherries, raspberries and milk chocolate, and an earthier grounding of tobacco, anise and leather.

Mourvèdre is an awfully hard variety to get right in California, but Quivera has done an outstanding job. The wine is fully ripe, showing cassis, milk chocolate and pepperspice flavors, and it’s also very soft, making it immediately drinkable. But it’s the refined tannin structure that lifts it up.

This barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc will appeal to fans of oak. It’s strong in charry, caramelized, buttered toast flavors that dominate the underlying wine, and make it taste a little sweet.

Lemon and lime flavors mark this pleasant wine, grown in one of CaliforniaÕs best appellations for the varietal. ItÕs dry and crisp, with a dusty sprinkling of tannins. The citrusy theme picks up again on the tart finish.

This wine has a dairy note to the nose; i.e., cheese, custard and yogurt. Lemony flavors are accented by dried baking spices, while the back palate is a touch chalky, offering some good and welcome grip. Overall, the wine seems a bit heavy. If it were pushing amps, it would be a high-power machine.

A very good, dry Zinfandel, rich in ripe fruit and smoky oak. With thick, furry tannins, it shows classic Zinny flavors of wild berries and dusty Asian spices. Great price for a Sonoma Zin of this quality. Drink now.

Dry and full-bodied, with robust flavors of wild red, blue and black berries, currants, cola, dark chocolate and oodles of peppery spices. Feels brisk and tannic in the mouth, with a balanced, classy finish. A beautiful Dry Creek Zin for drinking now.

From the heart of the valley, brilliant Zinfandel that captures the spirit of the appellation in its wild, ripe, juicy fruit flavors, fine tannins and perfect acidity. The fruit really stars here, suggesting every berry you can think of, but it’s not a fruit bomb. The dryness and earthy tartness balance it out.
