A really good Chard, it satisfies with opulent tropical fruit flavors, buttercream, vanilla, buttered toast and Asian spice flavors, while the acids keep things crisp and clean. Good price for a wine of this quality.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A very rich, oaky-toasty wine with oodles of upfront peach and tropical fruit flavors, but not a lot of depth or complexity. The fruit is big and ripely sweet and impressive, and the oak barrels provide layers of vanilla, smoke and sweet wood-sap nuances. It’s all on the surface, but it’s a very pretty surface.

Shows real finesse and polish in the smooth, dusty texture and overall balance. The flavors are earthy-fruity, suggesting coffee, blackberries and plums, with lots of palate-stimulating spices. Easy to find with 48,000 cases produced.

Slightly marred by a hint of nail polish on the nose, but otherwise notable mostly for its lack of defining features. There’s some modest red berry and chocolate fruit and a short finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A rich, dry, somewhat tannic all-purpose red wine, if you’re looking for something full-bodied. Doesn’t seem particularly true to the variety, with its generic red and black stone-fruit flavors, and could easily be Merlot. But it’s clean, well-made and sturdy enough to stand up to big, rich foods.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A friendly, fruity Merlot with smooth tannins and a silky texture. A nice wine, but a tad sharp both on the palate and in the finish, which fades away with an almost lemony quality. The oak treatment belies the name—it’s not particularly toasty at all. Overall an easy-drinking red with ample doses of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

An easy-sipping white wine, with semisweet fruit flavors and soft acids. Finishes clean and honeyed.

With 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Jammy and grapey, with ripe, pretty fruit. It’s dry, and has a soft tannin structure and nice mouthfeel. Not especially varietal, but it’s a clean wine made for easy drinking.

A simple, everyday red that won't break the bank. The grapes tend to get a little baked this far inland, especially Merlot, which really needs just the right conditions to maintain delicacy and balance. As a result the dominant notes are earthy, with a slightly baked or raisiny quality. The tannins, needless to say, are soft, and the acidity is low.
