Weedy and thin, this Merlot has a stubborn green streak that won’t age out. Despite a splash of cherries and oak, that stemmy taste dominates.

As good as many Napa Cabs at twice the price. Dry, richly tannic and smooth, with blackberry and cola flavors and a nice streak of fresh green garden herbs. Best now.

Too sharp in acids, giving the cherry and raspberry flavors a real bite. Almost sour on the finish. Drink now.

Creamy vanilla notes mingle with cherry fruit on the nose of this brightly expressive wine. Built more like a Burgundy than a traditional California Merlot, it features fairly high acidity and racy fruit flavors. A subsidiary label from Kent Rasmussen.

Light nose, sweet, slightly floral, simple aromas, classic “California”, almost no terroir here but quite a bit of fruit; sweet and simple flavors, has good cherry and plum flavors, soft tannins, light acidity; soft finish, light but marred by a lot of bitter flavors, not much depth, but a pleasant wine.
