This producer is turning out some interesting wines. The 2002 Merlot displays slightly candied cherry flavors along with a lactic note that brings to mind cherry cheesecake. Picks up hints of lemon and mocha on the tart finish.

Smoky-smelling and closed at first, showing little more than dried herbs. It opens up on the palate to reveal creamy black cherry flavors, dried herbs and a lip-smacking mocha finish. The blend is 80% Cabernet, 20% Merlot.

Much like here in the States, “Reserve” tends to mean oaked to within an inch of its life. This wine shows little more than toasty oak and sweet vanilla flavors, with a flourish of buttered popcorn on the finish. Some peach aromas testify to the fruit’s promise, if you enjoy heavily oaked Chardonnay, you may like this one more than the rating suggests.
