Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Though not as ripe or potent as the leading Boushey Vineyard Syrahs, this delicate wine is nicely balanced and reasonably complex, showing light pepper along with tart cherry- and berry-flavored fruit. There’s plenty of acid, but the fruit is ripe enough to avoid the sour-candy label.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Somewhat in the same tight, austere, guarded mode as the winery’s Bordeaux blend, this cabernet franc breathes slowly into elegant complexity. Spicy, compact blue and red fruits are lightly accented with sweet spice.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From what is developing into one of Washington’s top Syrah vineyards, this wine features delicious flavors of mixed berries accented by judicious oak aging. The only drawback is its relatively short finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Strong, saturated fruit flavors of raspberry and cassis are cloaked in substantial oak flavors – the wine spent 34 months in new French and American oak barrels. There is some volatility and sharp acids as well; it’s a bold style that will appeal to those wine drinkers who really like the flavors of new oak barrels.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Boushey vineyard grapes deliver a well-integrated flavor set that runs the gamut from currant and fig and plum to earth, black tea, coffee, toast and tobacco. The wine was aged for 28 months in “mostly” neutral oak, but there is some influence from the barrels also.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Smooth and seductive, scented with sandalwood, tasting of butterfat, toast and chocolate, layered around generous fruit. Cherry, currant and plum lead into polished tannins and lots of chocolaty oak.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A blend of 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, this is a deep green/gold in the glass. It was barrel fermented and opens with toasty barrel scents. It lies soft in the mouth, with gentle flavors of grass and roasted nuts; there is a slight impression of oiliness as well. Definitely a wine to drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Although at first glance this wine doesn’t impress, it seems to get better every time you go back to it, fleshing out with air and slowly revealing more and more nuance. In fact, this rating may seem conservative in a couple of years. Toasty and constructed by oak, gradually showing spice and blackberry flavors that linger delicately on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Conner Lee vineyard was the fruit source, and new oak barrels (from Minnesota) were used during the aging of the wine. It is already softening and maturing, the fruit showing secondary characteristics of baked fig and plum. The oak is sharply defined, but coming into balance. The midpalate extends with coffee, licorice and smoke, then turns a bit alcoholic as it fades.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Earthy with a strong herbal component, this Cabernet Franc is mostly sourced from Yakima Valley fruit. It looks and feels older than its vintage, with bricking around the perimeter and fruit that is well past primary freshness. Drink up.
